Our Ottawa diabetes journal club now officially off to the races. We meet monthly and have members from the Chee, Abizaid, and Bruin labs at Carleton. We also recently welcomed the Mulvihill lab from University of Ottawa Heart Institute. This week we learned about the role of GATA6 in beta cells.
This year's OIRM Annual Symposium in Toronto was a fantastic day full of exciting research updates from the Ontario stem cell community. Dr. Bruin presented our work-in-progress studying the impact of persistent pollutants on endocrine cell development, funded by an OIRM New Ideas Grant. Erin MacFarlane and Myriam Hoyeck were also awarded OIRM travel grants to attend the symposium.
Congrats to Geronimo and Myriam on their oral presentations and Erin on her poster presentation. Everyone did an amazing job. The Bruin lab was well represented this year at the OCIB Annual Symposium. Click on the image to see more pics!
